Guided Conscious Connected Breathwork Journey

  • Sana Healing Collective 3324 W North Ave Chicago, IL 60625 United States (map)

When we breathe consciously and intentionally, we invite the body out of its stress response and into a state of genuine calm. You know the feeling, the to-do list that follows you into the weekend, the sleep that doesn't quite restore, the sense that you've been running longer than you'd like to admit. This session is designed to meet you there, and bring you home to stillness.

What is Conscious Connected Breathwork?

Conscious Connected Breathwork (CCB) is an active, embodied practice that uses a continuous, circular breathing pattern (no pause between inhale and exhale) to shift the body out of everyday thinking and into a deeper state of physiological and emotional release. Unlike meditation, which often works through stillness, CCB works through movement and activation: the breath itself becomes the tool that unlocks tension, emotion, and stored stress held in the body. Many people experience it as a kind of moving meditation, sensation, emotion, and insight can surface and move through without needing to be analyzed or talked through. It's a practice rooted in the body's own intelligence, supported by a facilitator who holds the space for whatever arises.

The session follows a simple arc:

  • Opening: settle-in and arrival, easing the body and breath into presence

  • Guided meditation: a brief practice to soften into the space before we begin

  • 40 minutes of active guided breath: the heart of our time together

  • Closing and Integration: supported rest and gentle integration to let the practice settle

How to prepare:

This practice is done lying down, so wear comfortable clothing you can move and breathe freely in. We recommend avoiding a large meal in the two hours before we begin, it's not a safety concern, simply more comfortable to breathe deeply on a lighter stomach.

Who this is good for and who it is not:

This session is open to everyone and best suited for those in good general health. Whether you're new to breathwork or a seasoned practitioner, practicing in community can deepen and enrich the experience, there's something held in doing this work alongside others.

Out of care for everyone in the room, this practice is not recommended for those who are currently pregnant, on medications that alter brain chemistry, or have a history of epilepsy or seizure disorders, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, glaucoma, aneurysm, stroke, detached retina, severe anxiety or panic disorder, active PTSD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, severe asthma, or other respiratory conditions such as COPD.

Breathwork is a powerful and transformative practice, and safety always comes first. If you're unsure whether it's the right fit for you given a current condition, we welcome a conversation before booking to help you understand whether this modality will support your journey.

About the facilitator, Chrissy Schmidt:

  • Chrissy spent nearly two decades in corporate leadership before making the leap into breathwork, a shift that grew naturally out of years spent holding space for employees, and a growing pull toward something deeper. After leaving corporate life, she bought a one-way ticket and spent two years traveling through Asia, immersing herself in the philosophy, spirituality, and practices of Thailand, Bali, and India. That journey became the foundation for her current work: over 1,000 hours of study across Kundalini Yoga, Nada Yoga, Active Consciousness Meditation, and Conscious Connected Breathwork. Her passion is helping others find practical, grounded ways to manage stress, create balance, and reconnect with the joy that gets lost in the pursuit of success.

We look forward to welcoming you into this space.

Cost:

This event is offered on a $30–$50 sliding scale for the general public. Existing Sana Community Care Fund clients may also be eligible for a discounted rate. If you are an existing Sana client, please email sana@sanahealingcollective.org to inquire about available discounts.

Our sliding-scale model allows participants to contribute at a level that works for their circumstances. Paying toward the higher end of the range helps make it possible for others to participate at a lower cost. In this way, each person's contribution becomes part of a larger practice of community care and collective wellness.
