Providing Affordable Ketamine-Assisted therapy
At Sana Healing Collective, we believe that mental health care should be accessible to everyone. That's why we've established an initiative to make healing affordable and within reach for all. Our mission is simple: to make Ketamine-Assisted Therapy (KAT) accessible.
For Sana Healing Collective, community is grounded in mutual aid and support. In that regard, community is defined by the ways we as individuals care for ourselves and each other, and how we come together collectively to provide service and activate toward change. Embracing shared values, goals, and visions for a better quality of life for all catalyzes our collective power to uplift each other and step up for those who need our support.
Community makes us stronger together than we are individually. In providing mutual support for one another, we resource the collective to continue to deepen both its bonds and its capacity for healing. We are inspired by the words of Murri activist, artist, and academic, Lilla Watson and the Aboriginal Rights group in Queensland with whom she organized:
“If you have come to help me, you are wasting your time. But if you have come because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together.”
About ketamine-assisted therapy
Ketamine-Assisted Therapy (KAT) is an innovative and evidence-based approach to mental health treatment. With the right dosing, set, and setting, ketamine can enable therapeutic psychedelic experiences. Research has shown its effectiveness in treating conditions such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, and chronic pain, though the psychedelic experience tends to transcend categories, impacting our whole being. KAT offers a profound healing experience, helping individuals explore themselves and their lives deeply in a safe, supportive environment.
Our Commitment to Community Care
We are dedicated to breaking down financial barriers to mental health support. We provide financial assistance to individuals in need, lowering barriers to care. Our team of experienced and compassionate therapists and medical professionals are committed to guiding you through your healing journey with care and understanding.
Compounding the cuts in federal mental health spending in the 1980s, Chicago experienced a city-level disinvestment in schools and mental health clinics in the 2010’s. Half of the community mental health clinics in the city were closed, largely in black and brown neighborhoods.
Through our Community Care Fund, we aim to bridge the gaps left by the divestment from mental health in our city. We are particularly focused on providing healing and services to those who have been acting in service to our community through community organizing, mutual aid, and radical social justice work.
Through the Sana CCF, we can provide low-cost and sliding-scale KAT (and eventually other psychedelic-assisted therapies when available to us) to people who otherwise would not be able to access such novel mental health treatment due to cost and other systemic barriers.
We consider several factors when working with our clients to determine a reduced rate for services, to ensure we are utilizing our limited resources equitably. These include the client’s current financial situation (including how much they believe they might be able to pay for their services), employment status, household income, demographics (race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, age, disability status, citizenship, drug use status, etc.), experiences with structural oppression, and whether they are directly impacted by the War on Drugs. We also prioritize folks who are actively committed to serving the community through activism, organization, mutual aid, and Harm Reduction.
