Clinical Training Opportunities

Advanced PsyD Practicum Placement

Sana Healing Collective offers a highly selective advanced practicum placement for PsyD doctoral students seeking immersive training in integrative, community-centered, and harm-reduction-oriented mental health care.

We are an ACEPT-aligned training site and follow ACEPT guidelines and timelines for practicum training. Each academic year, we offer two advanced practicum positions, with placements beginning in August.

Role Description

As an intern at Sana, you will have the opportunity to work primarily with adult clients who have used ketamine or other psychedelic substances. Although we do not provide long-term therapy services, interns will have the opportunity to work with a few long-term therapy clients for learning purposes. Though, like Sana staff, most of your clients will be shorter-term, usually seen over the span of a few months. You will assist with initial client contacts to inform them and screen them for services. You will engage in observation, and eventually co-therapy with Sana staff as part of your training as well. You should expect to provide approximately 8 hours of therapy per week once you have a full caseload, though this may vary, particularly if you are co-leading a group, which may require additional hours while the group is ongoing.

Training Model

Practicum students at Sana are integrated into a collaborative clinical team and supported through a balance of direct clinical work, supervision, didactics, and community engagement. Our training emphasizes relational depth, clinical humility, ethical psychedelic care, and systems-aware practice.

Practicum students receive:

  • 1 hour per week of individual supervision with a licensed clinical psychologist

  • 1 hour per week of didactic training, focused on clinical skills, case consultation, ethical practice, and integrative approaches to care

Clinical Experience

The majority of the practicum caseload consists of individual therapy clients, allowing students to deepen assessment, formulation, and long-term therapeutic work with adults from diverse backgrounds.

In addition, practicum students have the opportunity to gain experience in ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) within Sana’s ethical, relational, and harm-reduction-oriented framework. This includes:

  • Participating in KAP sessions through our co-therapy model alongside a licensed clinician

  • Co-facilitating group ketamine-assisted therapy and group integration sessions

Exposure to KAP is thoughtfully scaffolded and grounded in clinical readiness, supervision, and ongoing reflection.

Community Engagement

Consistent with Sana’s belief that community is medicine, practicum students are invited to participate in community outreach, education, and event organizing, including public-facing programs and collective care initiatives. These experiences support the development of clinicians who are not only skilled therapists, but also engaged community members and advocates.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be enrolled in a PsyD program and eligible for an advanced practicum placement

  • Have a minimum of one year of prior experience providing direct therapy services

  • Demonstrate alignment with Sana’s values, including accessibility, cultural responsiveness, and harm reduction

Application Timeline

Applications are reviewed in accordance with ACEPT timelines, with placements beginning each August. Due to the depth of training and supervision provided, positions are limited to two practicum students per academic year.

Application Information:

It is expected that applicants will have prior relevant experience, such as prior experience in clinical settings (e.g. group facilitator, case manager), prior study of consciousness or altered states of consciousness (e.g. meditation training and practice, familiarity with somatic therapies, prior study of psychedelic-assisted therapies or ketamine-assisted therapies), and/or experience with Harm Reduction. Please note all relevant experience in your cover letter. Please also be sure to note any additional languages spoken and level of fluency.

Please email your application materials, including CV, cover letter, unofficial transcripts, and at least two letters of recommendation from previous supervisors and/or those closely familiar with your clinical work to sana@sanahealingcollective no later than Friday, January 23, 2026 at 11:59 PM CST.

Other Opportunities for Collaboration

We are always open to discussing potential training and internship opportunities for those who are not PsyD students. At this time, we are not able to supervise MSW students, as we don’t have an LCSW on our team. That said, in the past, we have worked with graduate students in public health and anthropology. If you have a proposal for a project or research idea you think we may be a fit for, please email us, and we might be able to consider it, depending on our capacity and requirements of your program.
