Monthly Open Art Studio for Psychedelic Integration

  • Sana Healing Collective 3324 W North Ave Chicago, Illinois United States (map)

Join us at the next monthly Open Studio for Psychedelic Integration at Sana Healing Collective in Chicago. Rooted in accessibility, creativity, and community care, our Open Art Therapy Studio offers a welcoming space for people to explore personal expression, collective healing, and the transformative potential of creativity as medicine.

Our Next Session is Sunday, August 30th

from 11:00 AM - 2:00 pm

The Open Art Therapy Studio invites community members to explore a wide range of artistic mediums in a supportive, judgment-free environment. These sessions emphasize process over product, giving participants the freedom to engage with their creativity without the pressure to create something “good” or finished. Whether through painting, collage, sculpture, drawing, or mixed media, the creative process can become a powerful tool for self-expression, grounding, reflection, emotional release, and self-discovery.

A Creative Space for Psychedelic Integration

Art can be an especially meaningful part of the psychedelic integration process. Psychedelic experiences can bring forward emotions, memories, insights, questions, and new perspectives that continue to unfold long after an experience has ended. Creative expression can provide another pathway for exploring and making meaning from these experiences, particularly when words alone don't fully capture what someone is feeling or discovering.

Our Open Studio is designed to complement psychedelic integration by providing a consistent, community-centered space for reflection and creative exploration. You do not need to be an artist or have previous art therapy experience to participate. There is no expectation to share your work, explain what you create, or approach the process in any particular way.

These drop-in art therapy studio sessions allow participants to engage in self-directed artmaking while receiving support from Valery Shuman, our board-certified art therapist with decades of experience. The open studio model offers flexibility for participants to work at their own pace while fostering connection among people interested in psychedelics, mental health, creativity, and holistic approaches to healing.

Art, Healing, and Community Care

At Sana Healing Collective, we believe that Community is Medicine. Healing does not always happen in a traditional therapy office or through conversation alone. Sometimes healing can emerge through making, moving, reflecting, connecting with others, or simply having the opportunity to be present in a supportive environment.

By creating consistent opportunities for psychedelic integration, expressive arts, and community connection, the Open Studio helps reduce isolation and reinforces the importance of collective healing. Participants can explore their inner experiences while also sharing physical space with others who value creativity and alternative approaches to mental health and wellbeing.

The Art Therapy Studio at Sana Healing Collective is a creative sanctuary where art and healing meet. Our open expressive art studio provides Chicago community members with an accessible opportunity to freely explore creativity as a pathway to self-discovery, emotional expression, grounding, and release.

Whether you are integrating a recent psychedelic experience, exploring your relationship with creativity, looking for a supportive art-making space, or simply curious about the connection between art and healing, you are welcome at Open Studio.

Come as you are. Make what you want. There is no right way to create.

Join us for our next Open Studio for Psychedelic Integration and Art Therapy in Chicago and experience what can emerge when creativity, healing, and community come together.
